HOW DO YOU STACK UP?

The popularity of Stack rings has grown over the past ten years and remains a constant best seller for Melissa Harris Jewellery. Why? I think because they can be mix and matched to create different looks with such ease. They can be gifted for anniversaries and birthdays and they can be bought by women to celebrate milestones or as a treat. The endless combinations at your fingertips make them the most versatile pieces in your jewellery wardrobe.

So here are some ideas for building the perfect stack.

 HOW MANY IS TOO MANY?

You are asking the wrong person!

Because you can make a multitude of combinations on one or more fingers that’s hard for me to say how many is too many.

If you want to keep it simple you can start with one finger. For a quick short stack three rings on a single finger works well, as two looks sightly unbalanced.

If you don’t know where to start look at a selection and pick one that speaks to you and then you can use that as the foundation for a stack.

You might like to start with a fine gemstone band and “frame” it with a patterned band on either side. The patterns in each band can be different to create interest and still it easy on the eye next to the gemstone ring.

In the future you can add more stack rings to your collection to swap in and out for alternative looks. Future birthday present options aplenty!

SHOULD MY STACK RINGS BE YELLOW, WHITE OR ROSE GOLD?

If you want to stick with one metal choose whatever metal you wear the most, however I love mixing yellow white and rose gold too. I love our patterned gold stack rings without stones sitting next a fine diamond band in white gold. The mixture of colours and patterns give visual interest to a stack.

WHAT ABOUT GEMSTONES IN STACK RINGS?

 Gemstones suitable for everyday wear.

  • Diamonds including white, black and salt and pepper diamonds as well as blue heat treated diamonds.
  • Sapphires are available in pink, blue, green, yellow and orange.
  • Rubies and Emeralds, however Emeralds are less durable.

Diamonds are always popular. You might also consider Salt and pepper diamonds which have risen in popularity in recent years and add sparkle with a tinge of black or grey. They have a slightly edgier feel and look to them. You can add a lot of drama with a fine black diamond band. If you fancy a pop of colour fine bands with any of the sapphire colours above fit the bill and the hardness of the sapphires is close to the hardness and durability of diamonds making these gemstones the perfect choice for fine gemstone stack rings for everyday wear.
